Lido in Lenzerheide/Lai, invited competition

The compact, two-story building blends harmoniously into the natural lake and forest landscape of the Lido. On the lakeside, the restaurant serves as the focal point of the ground floor, thanks to its attractive orientation toward the bay. The generous window front strengthens the connection to the outdoor area, with an adjacent terrace. On warm summer days, these windows can be fully opened, merging the interior with the exterior space. The upper floor houses the public restrooms, which remain accessible independently of the restaurant’s opening hours.The facade reflects these different functions of the two floors: the ground floor is framed by wooden supports and windows, giving it an open character in line with the program. Above, the upper floor floats behind a consistent, vertical wooden cladding. This clear division gives the new building a light, elegant expression. It gently integrates into the existing forest landscape while also creating a distinctive address.

Der kompakte, zweigeschossige Neubau fügt sich harmonisch in die naturnahe See- und Waldlandschaft des Lidos ein. Auf der Seeseite bildet das Restaurant durch seine attraktive Ausrichtung zur Badebucht das Zentrum des Erdgeschosses. Die grosszügige Fensterfront stärkt den Bezug zum Aussenbereich mit angrenzender Terrasse. An warmen Sommertagen können diese vollständig geöffnet werden und so der Innen- mit dem Aussenraum verschmelzen. Im oberen Geschoss befindet sich die öffentliche WC-Anlage, welche auch unabhängig von den Öffnungszeiten des Restaurants zugänglich bleibt. Die Fassade widerspiegelt die unterschiedliche Funktion der zwei Geschosse: das Erdgeschoss wird von Holzstützen und Fenstern gegliedert und hat einem dem Programm entsprechenden offenen Charakter. Darüber schwebt das Obergeschoss, welches sich allseitig hinter einer gleichmässigen, vertikalen Holzschalung verbirgt. Durch diese klare Gliederung erhält das neue Gebäude einen leichten, eleganten Ausdruck. Es passt sich behutsam in die vorhandene Waldlandschaft ein und schafft gleichzeitig eine identitätsstiftende Adresse.
